Seven lessons from Elijah:
1. Turn hearts of fathers to their children. (Malachi 4:6)
Fathers impact nations and generations. God promised Abraham a nation that will be a blessing to other nations. Disciple our children. If every family is strong, the nation will be strong.
2. Turn hearts of children to their fathers. (Malachi 4:6)
Bless your children. A blessing is what God, the Father, wants to say to our children, and we are the mouthpieces.
3. Impart double portion. (2 Kings 2:9)
Elisha looked up to Elijah. What did Elisha ask for? Double portion. Fathers should be role models, so that when our children say, "Dad, I want to be like you", they will do even better than us.
4. Father the fatherless. (1 Kings 17:17-24)
God never forgets the fatherless. God will send those with the spirit of Elijah to father the fatherless and give them hope.
5. Don't be weak men. (1 Kings 21: 1-4)
This happens when we walk away from God. The solution is to put God first in our lives.
6. Rebuild the broken altar. (1 Kings 18: 30-39)
Many altars are broken. Our personal altar, our marriage altar, our family altar. When the altar is broken, how can fire and rain come down? Revival must happen in our own lives, marriages, and families.
7. Be part of the 7000. (1 Kings 19:18)
I believe God wants to call out the fathers now. Among us there are fathers, grandfathers, spiritual fathers. You are part of God's solution to turn the nation around, to father the fatherless.
