What does it mean for God to dwell with us? In Hebrew, the word dwell comes with two ideas. The first is about permanency, and the second is intimacy. God wants to live permanently and perpetually in your heart. The Lord does not want to relate to us from a distance, but He wants to draw close.

How can we be become a dwelling place for God? Psalms 24:4 says โ€œhe who has clean hands and a pure heartโ€.

What is pure-hearted love for God? If the substance of a heart are its desires, then purity of heart speaks of a heart that is singular in its desire. All its desires must be singularly after God and God alone.

What is the outcome of a pure-hearted love for God? The outcome is found in Matthew 5:8 โ€“ they will see God. We are not just meant to absorb information about the Lord in our heads. We are meant to encounter Him in a place of deep communion and fellowship.

What contaminates a pure-hearted love for God? If a singular, uncontaminated love for God is a pure-hearted love for God, then the contaminant is a heart that loves the world. 1 John 2:16 says โ€œfor everything in the world โ€“ the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life โ€“ comes not from the Father but from the worldโ€.

What restores out purity of heart? The Lord shines light upon the things that are impure in our lives. He confronts our hearts and says โ€œrepent.โ€ When the Lord identifies our sins, He awaits our repentance. 1 John 1:9 says, โ€œif we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousnessโ€.
