As Christians, we know that we inherit God's kingdom. But do you know that also means we are no longer debtors to the flesh?
What is the meaning of the flesh? It is this human nature of ours that is deeply affected by the fall. It is very much open to temptations, to the evil one, our enemy. We must recognize that we are no longer debtors to the flesh. We do not need to respond to our base instincts.
God is a loving Father. Rather than making you pay for the costs of your mistakes, He wants to help you grow in maturity. We can cry out to the Spirit for help to change our hearts from fear into one that has full confidence in God as His child, trusting in the Father's willingness to forgive and save.
One of the chief ways we put to death the deeds of the body simply naming our mistakes and naming our temptations. When we sin, ask God for help, knowing that He can transform our lives.
Finally, by the Spirit, we put to death the deeds of the body by suffering. We suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him. It is a suffering with the hope of glory waiting for us. It will be worth it. To fight this spiritual battle with the evil is tiring, so we need to come to the Holy Spirit and ask Him for help as we suffer these attacks. We cannot do without the Spirit's help and guidance.
