If we as disciples of Christ want to live like Christ, then we ought to live the same kind of anointed life as Christ. To live like Christ, we need to put off and put on. The Apostle Paul tells us that the end goal of this is so that we can live out the kind of life that we ought to live because we have been created after the likeness of God.
Jesus gives us a model of what it means to live out this kind of life. You have learned about Christ, you have heard about Him, you were taught in Him, and the truth is in Him. It doesn't stop there. We then need to live that out.
After putting off that old self, you need to put on Christ. Christ needs to be allowed to bring transformation in our lives. That reality of putting off your old self needs to be continually lived out in your life thereafter. We need to be renewed in our minds to always choose to live like Christ and in Christ, and then practically live it out with our hands and our feet thereafter.
To do this we need to set your minds on things that are above and not on things that are on earth. In light of eternity, there is a need for us to give up some of our good life in order to have the best life that Christ has created us for in the likeness of God.
