Jesus cursed the fig tree because from afar, He saw the tree, but when He got near, there was no fruit. Over time, our love for Jesus can dwindle like the tree - there's individual decay. But if you ask God for help, Jesus says to believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Believe and trust, then you will start growing baby fruits. And when the season comes, there will be full-grown fruits.
From the temple cleansing event, learn to be authentic. Don't put barriers for worshippers getting closer to God. As a community, we shouldn't make it difficult for people to connect to God.
Learn from blind Bartimaeus - have faith. Jesus didn't come just for us, just for the leaders, just for the pastors, just for the priests. He came for the poor, the blind, the beggar, and the outcasts. Even before we ask, He's already offering Himself to us.
Lastly, be like Jesus, who rode in peace, humble and gentle. He has redeemed us - trust that, believe that, and have confidence in Him .
