Changing Times, Unchanging Peace - God's Peace - Mrs Wendy Sui

As believers of Jesus we enjoy true peace, but there are peace robbers that might sneak in quietly to take away your peace.

The first peace robber is worry. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul urges us not to allow worry to control us. Instead, we are encouraged to re-channel that energy to prayer - because only in talking to God can we allow God to handle the situation.

The second peace robber is wrong thinking. Are you convinced that God is in control? Only God's grace has the power to rescue fools who believe they can handle their own problems.

The third peace robber is worldly ambition. 1 John 2:15-16 says "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father, but from the world." Do we harbour worldly ambition in our hearts?

To deal with these peace robbers, I encourage all of us to talk to God about whatever we are facing. Give thanks to Him in everything because He is in control. If we believe that God so big, all our problems become small. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit and you will be empowered. Empowered to pray. Empowered to give thanks in your prayers. Empowered to obey God, and to do all that God wants you to do.
