God's grace is amazing. We are saved by grace, God's undeserved favour to us. He loves us unconditionally, constantly, and completely.
Even though God loves us, we still have a problem – sin. It is important for us to understand that when we have received this grace, we should not sin anymore, and we should learn how to overcome sin. While God loves sinners, He hates sin because it keeps us from the abundant life that Jesus has died to give us.
Paul's main exhortation in Romans chapter 6 is this - don't give up, and don't voluntarily sin. There are three reasons why we should not give up and voluntarily sin.
The first is that God can raise and transform us, so sin and death no longer have dominion (Romans 6: 1-11).
The second reason is that sin cannot have dominion on people under grace (Romans 6: 12-14). We may think that there is no chance that righteousness will win. But this is the mindset of someone who is under a law system. Paul says that we are not under law, but under grace (Romans 6:14).
The third reason is that if we give up, we become slaves of sin (Romans 5: 15-19). If we willfully give ourselves to sin, we will become slaves of sin. If we willfully give ourselves to God, we will become slaves of God.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. He saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.
