A Jar of Costly Oil - Mr Gabriel Wang

A woman in the Bible broke a jar of expensive ointment made from pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus, wiping His feet with her hair. This was an act of humility and devotion to Jesus. The jar of perfume was worth 300 denarii – essentially a full year's wage.
The emphasis on breaking the jar highlights her unreserved devotion to Jesus. She held nothing back, and her commitment was total and irreversible, because once the jar was broken, none of the perfume could be recovered or preserved. Such was the extravagance of her offering and worship to Jesus.
Let this be a reminder to us that as we come week after week into the house of God, we come to this place of worship not just to receive from Him, but to offer to Him all that He deserves – our worship and our lives.
For many of us, we have that jar of costly oil in our lives. The question we need to think about is: Will you keep that jar of costly oil in your display cabinet, or will you break it to be used for God's glory?
